The transformation of an un-used petrol station into a showroom for automotive parts with adjacent café. Nearing completion of construction, the Client leased the space to other occupants who have modified the design towards their needs.
Located on a prominent site adjacent to the heavily traversed Old Hope Road, the forward thinking Client asked for a design that would help to rebrand the company and position it as an innovator in auto-parts / industrial-parts industry. The goal of the design was to merge three specific business models into a seamless space, where the ability to makes sales from various entities becomes possible. Conceptualized as a grand cloud with multiple market like functions below, major frontage was given to Old Hope Road in order to generate interest through the activity behind the thermally insulated glass curtain walls. Staff and Service spaces sit adjacent to the public spaces with interior circulation patterns allowing secure but easy access from one volume to the next. Construction was 90% complete, when the Client was approached by an International Automobile manufacturer, who agreed to lease the space due to its prominence on the street. The re-design of the leased space is being completed by others.
