A tropical contemporary intervention, built upon the site of a demolished house and reclaimed ocean-front land.
The site for the intervention is tightly bounded on all sides, with other private homes abutting the property line on the east and west, a busy main road to the south and the ocean to the north. The design challenge included fulfilling a brief with numerous entertainment zones on multiple levels and providing an internal garage for 4 cars, which would be unique to any of the properties on the strip. This was to be achieved while maintaining a tight footprint within the registered area of the lot, which is approximately 1/20th of an acre. The scale of the building is in direct relation to the neighbouring context, where from the ocean it appears as a four-storey height with a gabled roof, from the roadway it appears as a two storey building due to its staggered top-floor. Functionally, all service elements were placed towards the roadside to act as a noise buffer for the entertainment and sleeping spaces situated towards the north
